The SandStorms Youth Ice Hockey Club is a non-profit organization.

The Board and all operations are run by dedicated volunteers and parents. 

Our Club’s Mission:

  • To foster and encourage participation in the sport of ice hockey for the youth of Dubai.
  • To promote ice hockey as a game played primarily for enjoyment while also fostering skill development, fair play, teamwork, respect for others and leadership.
  • To instill in all players the following ideals: (1) play fairly under all circumstances and all conditions;(2) to give opponents a fair chance and not take unfair advantage of any opponents; (3) to win modestly and accept defeat gracefully; (4) to give credit to the team that wins; and (5) not to unduly question or dispute the referee’s decision.
  • To foster and encourage leadership programs in all areas related to the development of youth ice hockey in Dubai.
  • To support and encourage other members of youth ice hockey clubs in the development of youth hockey within the UAE and GCC.

Our Club:

  • Emphasizes good hockey skills along with good sponsorship, positive attitudes, personal commitment and respect.
  • Attracts more than 150 players, both girls and boys, annually and is growing in popularity. 
  • Caters to players ages 4-18 within six divisions.
  • Our players come from a wide range of nationalities including Emirati, Canadian, American, Russian, Swedish, Finnish, British, Spanish, Lebanese, Ukrainian, South African, German, French, Belgian, Dutch and many more. 

Our home ice rink is Al Nasr Leisureland with weekly games played at Dubai Mall and Sports Society Rink in Mirdif. Practices and games are held twice a week.

The SandStorms Youth Ice Hockey Club hosts 2 annual tournaments attracting teams from across the Middle East including: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. We also participate in local tournaments in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. 

The SandStorms have sent teams to compete in tournaments in Singapore, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hong Kong, Bangkok, France and Canada. 

In 2008 the SandStorms were the first team from the Middle East to compete in the world famous Quebec City PeeWee hockey tournament in Canada. The team attracted considerable media attention.
